My first week at work

Finally after waiting so so long, I managed to secure a full time job. And to me, that's such a big relief. I got the call from Michelle (now my manager) the morning of July 18. My excitement and joy over the news were beyond words. Was supposed to start training the next day. Unfortunately, due to certain circumstances, I couldnt, which was why I opted to go in for training starting Saturday that same week.

My life has some-what changed every since. I've had such a great week at work. Everyone is so nice and friendly and helpful. They've been training and guiding me thru work. Giving me tips and pointers, teaching me tricks of the trade, and everything else i need to know. Whenever i'm confused over something, all I do is look at one of them, and they'll come to my rescue! That's really how nice they are. As for the actual "work" itself, I'm liking it. Not too much pressure, not to stressful. Although it's fast paced, it's still fun. I have a strong feeling i'm gonna be loving my job a lot (so long as all contributing factors remain the same).

Adventures of...

So i had a good weekend. Worked my normal shifts and got tipped reasonable well! Today was a fun day out. Was supposed to go to the gym at 9am..but i wanted tot sleep in after a tiring saturday nite. So skipped gym, went out for dim sum or what they call "yam cha" here. The irony of the name..haih...anyway...i was satisfied with yam cha today..we went grocery shopping after that..came home put groceries away, then headed to Blanche's place for a visit..had good laughs, story telling sessions. Entertaining..very entertaining.

Anyways, highlight of the day:
We made a pitt stop after Blanche's house. Where to?? Krispy Kreme. The first outlet opened in Victoria, and yes it's at one end of the world!! All the way at Fountain Gate. So since we were at THAT end of the world, we decided to stop by. Happily parked the car and walked pass the back of Krispy Kreme to get to the front entrance. First comment that we all had was "OH MY GOD!!!" Not because we finally made it to Krispy Kreme and that we were finally able to eat the ever so famous donuts. But it was because of what our eyes saw. People were queueing up, in the freaking freezing cold to ENTER Krispy Kreme. Howling winds did not deter them. Icy cold weather..and yet these ppl braved the weather JUST to eat donuts..Dammit..everyone's influenced by Homer. Anyway, there was a staff on her break outside. We walked pass her, and she told us, that would at least be AN HOUR AND A HALF wait!!! We were like..forget man..we're not that desperate for donuts..ppfftttt!! There was a drive through lane too..the queue was till God-alone-knows-where. The queue got lost in the fleet of cars present at the site. So, yeah n then we headed home. Geez..the things people would do for donuts.

And that's the story :)

One of my favourite verses

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.
But where there are prophecies, they will cease;
Where there are tongues, they will be stilled;
Where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Sad goodbye

I received the saddest news to date on Sunday morning. And what a way to spoil the day. My dog, Ginger, died of old age. He's been with us since he was a puppy, and that was 14 years ago. He grew up with us and was part of the family. He took care of us and played with us and made us laugh at his antics..wagging his tail when he's excited and trying to run away when dad scolds him, or trying to escape a bath, and always running to us when we have food..he was such a good n lovable dog. It will be so different the next time I go home..he will not be around. I didnt even get a chance to say goodbye. But i know he's up there, in doggy heaven, looking over us and protecting us like he always did.
